Self care. It’s important. You have to be selfish once in a while. Since being back at work I’ve struggled to get the balance. The mum guilt building each day as I’m not at home with my precious boy, the stress of work and getting back on top of my game there after 7months away…. it’s hard. I’m exhausted a lot of the time. This effects my mental health, my physical health and just life in general. So this is my reminder to you all…. and myself… TAKE SOME TIME FOR YOU! JUST YOU!!
Self care comes in many forms:
- Time to yourself
- Treating yourself
- Whatever makes you smile
I’m really bad at switching off in the evening… I want to catch up on everything. I start fretting over what I’ve missed or mistakes I’ve maybe made. You know what though… it’s usually not the big things that I’m worried about… its lots of little things that aren’t that important. So each night I’m going to try and switch off. That might be with some chocolate and a bubble bath. A walk with the dog. A sweaty gym class. A face mask and a book. Trying to make something with my new sewing machine! These are just some of the things that help me clear my head. Dont forget to take care of you! Happy mum, happy child! Now I’m off to enjoy some bubbles!
Take time to do what makes your soul happy.
Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.
